The Merrimack Valley,
town by town.
Eleven towns, two counties, two registries
The county line running between Tyngsborough and Andover decides more than people expect. It sets which registry of deeds holds a property's title history and which Probate and Family Court administers an estate — and a title exam ordered at the wrong registry is the most common avoidable delay we see on a closing.

We also work regularly in
Wilmington, Carlisle, Haverhill, Littleton, Groton, Pepperell, and Dunstable — and across Massachusetts generally. There is no page here for every town we serve, because a page written about a town we have nothing particular to say about is not worth your time or ours.
Questions we get asked
Do you take matters outside these towns?
Yes. We handle real estate and estate matters across Massachusetts; the towns listed here are simply where most of our work is and where we can speak to the local specifics. If your property or your family is elsewhere in the Commonwealth, call and ask.
Why does the county matter so much?
Because it determines two things you will deal with: which registry of deeds holds the title history for a property, and which Probate and Family Court administers an estate. Dracut, Lowell, Chelmsford, and Tyngsborough are Middlesex County — deeds at Middlesex North in Lowell. Andover and Methuen are Essex County — deeds at Essex North in Lawrence. A title exam ordered at the wrong registry is the most common avoidable delay we see.
Do I have to come to the Dracut office?
Closings are normally held at 490 Textile Avenue, with parking at the door. Mail-away closings can be arranged for sellers who have already moved, and for estate planning we are often able to meet closer to you when travel is difficult.
What about property in New Hampshire?
We practice in Massachusetts and handle the Massachusetts side of a cross-border move. If a New Hampshire closing or a New Hampshire document is also needed, tell us early so the timing can be sequenced with your New Hampshire counsel.
